Caeli Smith

Violist CAELI SMITH was born in Philadelphia and made her debut as an orchestra soloist at age ten with the Philadelphia Classical Symphony. She has collaborated with a wide range of musicians in recital and chamber music settings, including pianist André Watts and soprano Julianne Baird. Caeli is pursuing her Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School, where she studies with Misha Amory and Hsin-Yun Huang. She is co-principal viola of the Juilliard Orchestra. Recent awards include the second prize at the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Competition. Caeli has been featured on From The Top, where she served for three years as a traveling cast member in the role of “Roving Reporter." An active journalist, Caeli’s print articles have appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer, as well as Strings and Teen Strings, and Symphony magazines. This summer, Caeli will be a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Switzerland.
