Finalist: MiHyang Joo

Photo of the pianistMiHyang Joo was the winner of the coveted Rutgers Concerto Competition, and second prize winner of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in New York and a prize winner of Bergen Philharmonic Competition in New Jersey and the Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Competition in New York. Ms. Joo has twice been the winner of the Rutgers University Chamber Music Competition. She has performed at Nicholas Music Center in New Jersey as well as Steinway Hall and Donnell Auditorium in New York as part of Grieg Extravaganza. Last year she made a solo recital debut at Carnegie Weill Hall as a winner of the Artists International Auditions. The same year, she performed Schumann's A minor Piano Concerto with the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra, and this summer appeared as soloist with the Wiener Residenz Orchester performing Mozart's Piano Concerto K. 467 in Austria.

MiHyang Joo had been a student of Solomon Mikowsky since entering Manhattan School of Music where she received a Masters degree. Currently, Ms Joo is a DMA candidate at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University as a full scholarship student, where she studied with Susan Starr and Min Kwon.
