Jeong-hyun Kim

Jeong-hyun Kim, a native of Korea is currently pursuing her DMA in Flute Performance with Marina Piccinini. She received her Master of Music at the Carnegie Mellon School of Music where she worked with Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza. Previously, she studied with Kyung-wha Song and Mi-sun Lee at the Seoul National University. A member of Seoul Youth Philharmonic for four years, she has been a soloist with the Korean Symphony, Seoul Symphony, and the Seoul Youth Philharmonic and has performed in recital at Kumho Art hall. Jeong-hyun Kim has won prizes in several competitions such as the Baltimore Music Club, Pittsburgh Concert Society, the Joongang Newspaper competition, Pusan MBC competition, Kynghyang-Ewha music competition, the Chosun Music Newspaper competition, Monthly music magazine competition and Seoul Symphony orchestra concerto competition. She was selected as a 2006 Pi Kappa Lambda nominee. She was a member of National Repertory Orchestra 2007 and played at New World Symphony this year. She will be a regular member of Civic Orchestra of Chicago 2009-2010 season.
